The Bower

Luxure & Lifestyle in Coronado

Coronado, California

The Bower Hotel in Coronado, California, is an upcoming boutique hotel set to debut in early 2025. Located on the site of the former Villa Capri by the Sea motel, this luxury lifestyle hotel’s name, "Bower," is inspired by its historical roots as one of San Diego's original Japanese Tea Gardens, originally established by John D. Spreckels.
The Bower Hotel will feature 39 meticulously designed guest rooms, each exuding a calming aesthetic influenced by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, which finds beauty in imperfection. The design integrates lush landscaping, arches, and climbing plants, creating a serene, shaded retreat reminiscent of a traditional bower.
Amenities will include a rooftop restaurant and bar offering 270-degree unobstructed views, providing an ideal spot for dining and relaxation. The lobby will host a lounge and café, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for both guests and locals. The hotel's design honors the legacy of Villa Capri by incorporating familiar elements such as the signature neon sign and the iconic diving lady.
With its prime location across from the Hotel del Coronado, The Bower Hotel aims to enhance the hospitality offerings on Coronado Island, blending historical charm with modern luxury.
